CAD Setting Out for Architectural Joinery & Metal Work
Setting out for architectural joinery, stone, glass and metalwork
Setting out – a traditional craft in Shopfitting and joinery carried out by experienced Joiners who would produce full size rods for manufacture and installation of joinery, stone, glass, metalwork, etc.
CAD setting out has become the industry standard for architectural joinery.
Ace Design & Development has extensive CAD & setting out experience in the joinery & shopfitting industry, and with these years of experience behind us, we aim to provide a complete service from full site surveys, schematic drawings for the design process and finally the most vital part of the process – clear, easy to understand, working cad drawings.
Our service includes
- Project Management
- Full Site Surveys
- Schematic Drawings
- Construction Drawings
- Requisition Sheets
- Cutting Lists
Ace Design & Development is fully capable of taking a project from the initial stages of design meetings, right through to full manufacturing drawings, taking every aspect of the project into account.
Why CAD setting out?
Traditionally, setting out meant a joiner drawing full-size rods by hand. CAD setting out gives the same detail with far greater accuracy and makes revisions quick – and the same drawings feed cutting lists, requisition sheets and CNC preparation in the workshop.
All of our draughtsmen are competent in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Rhino, and many started out as joiners and site fixers – so our drawings are produced with manufacture and installation in mind.
How it works
- Tell us about the project – send drawings, sketches, photos or a brief, or we can meet you or your client on site.
- Survey and design – where needed we carry out a full site survey, then prepare design drawings for approval.
- Detailed drawings – once the design is agreed we produce clear construction and manufacturing drawings.
- Issue and support – drawings are issued using drawing issue sheets, and we keep you up to date until the project is complete.
Frequently asked questions
What is setting out in joinery?
Setting out is the process of producing full-size, fully dimensioned drawings (traditionally “rods”) from which joinery is manufactured and installed. We produce these in CAD for joinery, stone, glass and metalwork.
Do you produce cutting lists and requisition sheets?
Yes. As well as construction drawings, we can produce cutting lists and requisition sheets for your workshop.
Can you survey the site first?
Yes. We can carry out a full site survey so the setting out reflects the actual building, not just the architect’s drawings.
